Ryan Miller had his hero’s welcome, but the rest of his team couldn’t propel him to a win in his first game back. Hecht scored, Miller had 37 saves, but that about ends the good. Oh, Ovechkin got nailed once or twice, that was cool. Beyond that, too many giveaways, odd man rushes, you can’t [...] NHL
…but I don’t care because it was HOCKEY. Even radio only, to hear Doug Allen deliver the anthems, Rick and Harry with the call, all is right with the sporting world. Pominville, MacArthur and Kennedy had the goals for Buffalo, with Lalime and Enroth splitting duties in the net. I was only able to listen [...] NHL
The second round NHL playoff matchups are set, thanks to some wild Game 7s last night. Eastern Conference has Boston takingon Carolina starting Friday, with the Canes putting two past Brodeur in the final 1:30 of their game to advance. Maybe Marty needed all those extra games he missed? Heh. See Canes Country and Stanley [...] NHL
Yes, Buffalo needs a 2 and 2 (2 points in both games) to keep the scant playoff hopes alive. The Sabres are at Washington for a 7pm start tonight, home for NJ tomorrow night so it’s by no means easy. At least NJ is struggling…that matters, right? NFL
I’ve been mostly sports-free over the holiday season, and the first time I get to watch even a part of a Sabres game, they suck. They had some solid stretches, but for the most part just weren’t connecting in any meaningful way. Moves need to be made, as I imagine fans will get a bit [...] NHL
I hope everyone had a great holiday! It was hectic fun, as Thomas’s cousins came in as a bit of a surprise. I’m finally no longer sore from all the shovelling, and I’d be looking forward to the game tonight if I was going to be home to watch it. I’ll be at my in-laws [...] NHL
I can’t jinx it now, Ryan Miller stopped 29 shots as the Buffalo Sabres blew past the Ovechkin-less Capitals 5-0. Thomas Vanek stayed hot, scoring the first goal just over a minute into the game. Vanek got a fantastic breakout pass from Andrej Sekera that sent him in behind Mike Green, and Jose Theodore was [...] NHL
Drew from Illegal Curve found out the sad truth of Carolina hockey, and it was at a Durham Bulls game: I sauntered over to find, unmanned and unmonitored I remind you, a table filled with Buy one ticket, get one ticket free coupons for Carolina Hurricanes hockey games. Normally, a little cross-promotion for some of [...] NHL
Tim Kennedy signed a two year entry-level deal with the Sabres, adding yet another talent to the new potential AHL team, with a shot to make the big show. The Buffalo native was a 6th round pick of the Caps that the Sabres acquired in a draft day trade. |
