Now that things have settled a bit, I thought I’d look at the potential line combinations for this year. Keep in mind I’m not 100% sure who can be sent to Roches…er…Portland to start the season. Anyway, what the lines will most likely look like:

You almost feel bad for the Lightning, who probably thought they had this game in the bag after 2 periods. Buffalo looked downright terrible at times, with giveaways and gaffes costing them goals early. However, strong play from their current captain and the newly-reunited Roy-Vanek-Stafford line pulled it out for em’.

This was just what the Sabres’ needed to get right with the playoff race, two regulation wins, and both in resounding fashion. Montreal is in town tonight for a 7:30pm game at HSBC Arena. The Sabres are coming off their first win of the post-Soupy era, with a huge contribution from Steve Bernier. Bernier has fallen in love with Buffalo, and after that game, the feeling is mutual. If he can keep the energy up like that [...]
Ottawa will look a bit different tonight, their big line was reassembled recently, and they made a trade, sending Eaves and Corvo to the Hurricanes for Stillman and Commodore (Bozo).
The Sabres are in Boston tonight for a game against the Bruins. It’s the first of 14 games in 25 nights, but the majority will be at home. Still, Max should be back tomorrow, Stafford and Spacek are good for tonight, and Miller dodged the injury bullet. A win tonight would be big for the [...]
Whew. Ryan Miller was diagnosed with a bruised knee and may practice as soon as Monday, and has not ruled out playing on Tuesday. The knee was injured on a play in the second period against Atlanta. Stafford did some no-contact work, Soupy got a rest and Tim Connolly and Jaro Spacek also missed practice.
Ryan Miller stopped all 32 shots last night as the Sabres beat the Florida Panthers 1-0. Thomas Vanek scored the lone goal on the power play, the Sabres’ first in 40 (!) chances on the road. Tomas Vokoun made 40 stops in the losing effort.
