Robot Snow Shovel For Places That Don’t Need It
With the incredibly inventive name I-Shovel, to boot. I’ve been expecting something like this, to be honest, but I can’t imagine it will be tough enough to work during a real snowstorm. Spotted at Gizmodo.
Guess it was a big storm after all…
Mar 9, 2008 Life
We got hit pretty hard this weekend with that snow storm, although there were never really enough winds to call it a blizzard. Some areas got more than 2 feet of snow (at least 14-16 inches in my driveway by my back’s calculations). One of my colleagues got stuck in Cleveland thanks to his car giving out in all this crap, and I was late due to the inevitable snow plug at the end of the driveway thanks to the plows. At least it’s going to warm up for a while this week.
And Snow, It Begins…
Mar 7, 2008 Life
The snow is really starting to come down thanks to our little winter storm.
Snow will begin in the our area by this afternoon. 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible by tonight.
Snow will be heavy at times Saturday. Some mixing will be possible in parts of the Southern Tier and Northern Pa. Saturday morning.
Travel will be tricky as the winds will create near whiteout conditions. Winds will be 20 to 25mph with gusts in the 35mph range.
3 to 5 inches of snow will fall through Saturday with additional accumulations Saturday night.
Considering the only vehicle we have left of our own doesn’t like to start in bad weather, I’m not feeling too good about this.

They Said It - Ella Brooke Pratt Edition
Dec 14, 2007 NHL, They Said It
Defenseman Nolan Pratt came to Buffalo after spending six years in Tampa, Fla. So for his 5-year-old daughter, Ella Brooke, snowstorms like the one that struck Thursday are new.
Like her dad, who grew up in Alberta, she enjoys the snow.“It’s really the first time she’s been actively playing in it, and she’s pretty excited,” Pratt said. “It snowed overnight [recently], 2, 3 inches, and the next morning she’s in the snow in pajamas and Crocs with no idea that, ‘Yeah, it’s cold, too.’ ”
It’s not as frigid as she first thought, however. Before coming to town, the family saw “March of the Penguins,” the movie set in Antarctica. The girl asked if that was Buffalo.
“No,” her dad said with a laugh, “but it’s close.”
Very close, if the weekend forecast comes true.
