Ryan Miller Signs Five-Year Deal

Friday, July 18th, 2008

According to Sabres.com, Ryan Miller has signed a five-year contract, which will keep him here through 2013-2014.  Terms were not disclosed.  Now it’s down to Pominville.  :D
Adding my own thoughts, well, this is fantastic!  Miller is a very solid goalie who got worked over last year.  If the team commits to playing Lalime for more [...]

MacArthur and Mancari Back

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

In further Sabres news, Clarke MacArthur and Mark Mancari both accepted their qualifying offers, meaning they will be back with the Sabres organization next year.  MacArthur played with the big club 37 game last season with 15 points.  Mancari led Rochester in scoring, and also displayed the hardest shot in the AHL skills competition.

Paille Signs Multi-year Deal

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Dan Paille has signed a multi-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres, according to Sabres.com.  Terms were not disclosed (but if I find them, I’ll update this post).  Key Lime had a great season last year, scoring 19 goals while being solid defensively.  This was good to see.
edit:  Year 1, $900k.  Year 2, $1.35 million.  Very [...]

Lecavalier - Lightning 4 Life

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Vincent Lecavalier has signed an 11 year $85 million contract to stay with the Tampa Bay Lightning.  As reported by TSN, that takes him just about to his 40th birthday.  What is interesting here is the structure of the deal:

Random Buffalo Sports Stuff

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Donte Whitner guarantees the Bills make the playoffs.  Please do, while home playoff games are still played here, okay?
Steve Bernier, now of the Vancouver Canucks, signed an offer sheet with the Blues.  The Canucks matched it, sparking, uh, nothing like the war of words between Lowe and Burke.
Jason Smith is off the list, and he’s [...]

Paille Negotiating With Sabres

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

WKBW reports that Key Lime is talking ‘only’ to the Sabres, and thinks he’ll have a deal done before camp.  Daniel Paille is a restricted free agent, but it sounds like he’s not going to be signing any potential offer sheets handed out by the Oilers, er, other teams.

OMG Jaromir Jagr

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Jaromir Jagr has signed with Avangard Omsk of the Russian Continental League (the same team he played for during the lockout) for 2 years, $35 million with an option for a third year.  Uh, wow.  Jagr never really looked comfortable on the Rangers with Drury and Gomez, so this is honestly a decent move [...]

Day Two: Bye-Bye Orpik

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Orpik the elder has signed back with the Penguins for the surprisingly reasonable price of $3.75 million a year for 6 years.  Sabres GM Darcy Regier spoke about the situation today:
“We are looking both short-term needs and we’re looking long-term because we’ve got a number of players that we want to sign and we want [...]

Patrick Lalime has signed a 2 year, 2 million dollar deal with the Buffalo Sabres, giving Ryan Miller a new backup goalie. Lalime played for the Blackhawks last year, going 16-12-2 with a 2.82 GAA. He performed well when asked last year, including a 4 game winning streak. He was on WGR [...]

Gaustad In The Fold

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Paul Gaustad of the Buffalo Sabres has signed a 4 year, 9.2 million dollar deal according to TSN.  Goose was set to be a restricted free agent noon tomorrow, and now Paille, MacArthur and Bernier are the remaining RFAs.  Good to see him back, although the number sounds a tad high.  I guess that’s where [...]
