Sabres Ticket Prices Rise

Sabres.com has the pricing up for this season’s tickets, and it’s gonna cost you a bit more.  They’ve added a ‘Platinum’ tier to the variable pricing for the games against the Leafs (and one Friday night match-up with the Canadiens).  I guess they really want to stick it to the border crossing crowd.  There are 3 Value, 9 Bronze, 15 Silver and 10 Gold games.  Hit that link to get the exact prices, but in general, Gold pricing is down 15%, the rest are up about 12%.  It was bound to happen, I just hope it doesn’t bite ‘em, what with the increased price of gas and other things eating even more of our money up nowadays.

Sabres Preseason Schedule

Sabres.com has the preseason schedule up, including a game against the Canadiens in the city that won CBC’s Hockeyville contest (Roberval, Quebec).  Annoyed here as usual that the Sabres seem to play every game away, only 2 of the 7 games are at home (not calling a Habs game in Quebec neutral site).  Two preseason games versus the Leafs, maybe making up for two less during the season?  I’d rather be rid of them, as their toolbag fans might ruin the normally kid-friendly preseason games.

2008-2009 NHL Schedule Out

NHL.com has the schedule for this season out, and this article highlights some of the interesting games (like the ones being played in Europe).  Here is the link to the full schedule.  First thing that jumps out, Buffalo plays a day game at the Islanders on October 13th.  There’s an early western trip Oct 23-25, visiting the Wild and Avalanche.  I’ll look at it more and post more later.

edit:  Here is the Sabres’s schedule specifically.

Canadiens at Sabres for Home Opener

The Sabres report that their first regular season opponent will be the Montreal Canadiens on October 10th.  Also mentioned are the three ‘at-large’ games, wherein Buffalo faces off against Detroit, Anaheim and Phoenix.  And just to review:

This season, the NHL has revised its scheduling format. Each team will continue to play an 82-game schedule, but the breakdown of opponents has changed. Each team will play their divisional opponents six times (24 games in total), four games against each non-divisional conference opponent (40 games in total), one game against each of the 15 non-conference opponents and three “at large” games.

Rest of the sched tomorrow.

Sabres Season Tickets Renewed at 97% Rate

Here’s the scoop at Sabres.com:

The Buffalo Sabres today announced there has been a 97 percent renewal rate on season tickets from last year.

Additionally, the team also announced they will make available up to 500 season tickets for the upcoming 2008-2009 campaign to members of their Blue and Gold Club.

Guess all those people who were going to cancel due to bad management or sucky performance had a change of heart…or realized the tickets are pretty valuable.  Also noted is the fact that the schedule is released on Thursday, with an earlier annoucement tomorrow about the season opener and the three ‘at-large’ games.
