Sabres Preseason Schedule

Sabres.com has the preseason schedule up, including a game against the Canadiens in the city that won CBC’s Hockeyville contest (Roberval, Quebec).  Annoyed here as usual that the Sabres seem to play every game away, only 2 of the 7 games are at home (not calling a Habs game in Quebec neutral site).  Two preseason games versus the Leafs, maybe making up for two less during the season?  I’d rather be rid of them, as their toolbag fans might ruin the normally kid-friendly preseason games.

They Said It - The Saku Koivu Edition

“It’s a bit easier talking to kids than talking to you (Michael) in French,” Koivu jokingly told TSN’s Michael Whalen. ”And I talk to my wife in French in the right atmosphere,” he added with a wink. “You know what I’m talking about.”

Some remarks from current Montreal Canadiens Captain Saku Koivu, replying to comments from Quebec lawyer Guy Bertrand that were made at a public Provincial hearing about accomodations for religious minorities.  Bertrand was upset that Koivu introduced the Habs in English only at a game a few weeks back.  Koivu, who hails from Finland, already learned English, and speaks limited French.  He’s used it at things like visits to children’s hospitals and the like, but obviously was not comfortable enough to speak it when 20,000+ judgemental Quebec residents in attendance.  Guy Bertrand is basically blowing political hot air, as he is a bigtime Quebec Sovereigntist who previously pushed for a Quebec team to attend the World Championships apart from Team Canada.
