Donte Whitner guarantees the Bills make the playoffs.  Please do, while home playoff games are still played here, okay?
Steve Bernier, now of the Vancouver Canucks, signed an offer sheet with the Blues.  The Canucks matched it, sparking, uh, nothing like the war of words between Lowe and Burke.
Jason Smith is off the list, and he’s [...]

Happy Senators Elimination Day!

And they deserve it if only for this embarrassing pre-game ceremony from game 3.

Playoff Update

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Three series are underway in the East, with Montreal, Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers all holding a 1-0 lead.  Montreal scored twice in the first two minutes (one each from the Kostitsyns) and took the body on the supposedly more physical Bruins.  I’d vote the Bruins most likely team to get swept if the [...]

Stanley Cup Playoffs Start Tonight!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Dave posted a good breakdown of the matchups over at BfloBlog, but I thought I’d put my two cents in. I pretty much agree with all of his ‘wants’ - I want the Sens to get owned, I like the Flames and Iginla, and the NYR/NJ series should end in a bus accident where both teams are incapacitated.

The Polite Hockey Coach

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

“After the hit there were a couple of purse-swingings that didn’t amount to much,” Paul Maurice said. “No offence, ladies.”

Friday, April 4th, 2008

The Ottawa Senators kept pace in their playoff race last night with an 8-2 drubbing of the Maple Leafs, but their chances at winning may have taken a huge (and dirty?) hit.  Captain Daniel Alfredsson was hit in the head by Mark Bell is a play very similar to the one made by Neil on [...]

Gameday - Sabres at Senators

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Buffalo travels to Ottawa tonight for the back end of a home-and-home series with the Sens.  Derek Roy  is expected to play after hurting his leg in the horrific loss on Tuesday.  It’s just about to the point where the Sabres need to win out to have any shot at the 8th seed in the [...]

Gameday - Senators at Sabres

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Nathan Paetsch should be back in the lineup tonight as the Buffalo Sabres host the Ottawa Senators.  The Sens come in after a painful loss to the Canadiens, falling behind 7-1 before getting a few goals to make it a bit closer.  Once first in the conference, the Sens are now fifth.  I honestly have [...]

Sabres Pound New-Look Senators

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

The Senators had two new faces in the lineup, but the result was a painful 5-1 smackdown by the visiting Sabres. Thomas Vanek was all over the place, getting his first career Hat Trick

Gameday - Sabres at Senators

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Ottawa will look a bit different tonight, their big line was reassembled recently, and they made a trade, sending Eaves and Corvo to the Hurricanes for Stillman and Commodore (Bozo).
