More From Miller

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Sabres.com also has a short Q and A with Ryan Miller.  I really enjoy reading or listening to what Ryan Miller says, as he always comes off as deep-thinking and serious.  He knows he’s got a good thing, playing a sport for a living.  Here are some of my favorite lines:
but for me it’s a [...]

Ryan Miller Signs Five-Year Deal

Friday, July 18th, 2008

According to Sabres.com, Ryan Miller has signed a five-year contract, which will keep him here through 2013-2014.  Terms were not disclosed.  Now it’s down to Pominville.  :D
Adding my own thoughts, well, this is fantastic!  Miller is a very solid goalie who got worked over last year.  If the team commits to playing Lalime for more [...]

Lines

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Now that things have settled a bit, I thought I’d look at the potential line combinations for this year.  Keep in mind I’m not 100% sure who can be sent to Roches…er…Portland to start the season.  Anyway, what the lines will most likely look like:
Hecht - Connolly - Pominville
Vanek - Roy - Afinogenov
Paille - Gaustad [...]

NHL Taking Another Look at Goalie Equipment

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Ryan, it’s a good thing you’re on the competition committee, I guess.  Commish Gary Bettman stated that the league will take a “good look“ at the equipment that goaltenders wear/use in the NHL.  The league last adjusted the equipment for the 05/06 season, reducing the pad sizes amongst other changes.  Miller blames the smaller pads for [...]

No Playoffs for the Sabres

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Buffalo was beaten 3-1 by the Montreal Canadiens last night, thus ending all hopes of sneaking in to the playoffs.  The Sabres (as has happened numerous times this year) did not play a complete 60 minute game and it cost them.  Ales Kotalik scored the only Sabre goal on the power play with 8 minutes [...]

Max Factors In To The Playoff Picture

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

The Buffalo Sabres managed to survive in the playoff race one more day thanks to a timely shootout goal from Maxim Afinogenov, winning 4-3 in the skills comp.  It looked bleak after the first minute of the game though, as jerkwad Darcy Tucker scored to put the Leafs up 1-0.  Kaberle increased their lead to [...]

Miller Joins Competition Committee

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller has joined the NHL Competition Committee, which meets in Toronto during the Summer.  The opportunity arose after discussions between Eric Lindros (NHLPA Ombudsman) and Sabres management.
I analyze a lot and feel like I’m the kind of person who can analyze the situation and talk openly about stuff. So it’d be [...]

Gameday - Canadiens at Sabres

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Buffalo has a chance to gain some ground tonight, as the Montreal Canadiens visit HSBC Arena at 7:30pm.  The Sabres ‘improved’ to 3-9 in the shootout with the victory over the Senators last night to keep pace with Boston and Washington.  Both are idle tonight, although Philly is playing New Jersey.
One concern I have is [...]

Gameday - Senators at Sabres

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Nathan Paetsch should be back in the lineup tonight as the Buffalo Sabres host the Ottawa Senators.  The Sens come in after a painful loss to the Canadiens, falling behind 7-1 before getting a few goals to make it a bit closer.  Once first in the conference, the Sens are now fifth.  I honestly have [...]

Enroth > Thibault?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

It would require them to put some trust in him, though, and this group of management/coaches are not big on trusting the backup goalie. I find that odd, by the way, considering how much trust they put in these callups at times.
