MacArthur and Mancari Back

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

In further Sabres news, Clarke MacArthur and Mark Mancari both accepted their qualifying offers, meaning they will be back with the Sabres organization next year.  MacArthur played with the big club 37 game last season with 15 points.  Mancari led Rochester in scoring, and also displayed the hardest shot in the AHL skills competition.

Top 10 Sabres Goals from 07-08

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Sabres.com has the Top 10 Sabres goals from last year featured right now.  There are some fun ones, including MacArthur’s sick one-timer, a reminder of why we have kept Max for so long, and a game-winner from Andrej Sekera.  Just hearing Rick’s excitable calls makes me want to go to a game TOMORROW!

Lines

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Now that things have settled a bit, I thought I’d look at the potential line combinations for this year.  Keep in mind I’m not 100% sure who can be sent to Roches…er…Portland to start the season.  Anyway, what the lines will most likely look like:
Hecht - Connolly - Pominville
Vanek - Roy - Afinogenov
Paille - Gaustad [...]

Sabres Extend Qualifying Offers

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Darcy Regier and the Buffalo Sabres announced that they have extended qualifying offers to all 5 of their restricted free agents.  Steve Bernier, Paul Gaustad, Dan Paille, Mark Mancari and Clarke MacArthur are the players in question.  In case you are wondering what that means:
By extending an offer, Buffalo retains the rights to each player [...]

Gameday - Canadiens at Sabres

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Montreal is in town tonight for a 7:30pm game at HSBC Arena.  The Sabres are coming off their first win of the post-Soupy era, with a huge contribution from Steve Bernier.  Bernier has fallen in love with Buffalo, and after that game, the feeling is mutual.  If he can keep the energy up like that [...]

Sabres Build Early Lead to Beat Lightning

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Ryan Miller weathered an early barrage from the Tampa Bay Lightning, then MacArthur, Hecht and Pominville took over from there to lead Buffalo to the 4-2 win.  Pominville made a nice pass on the break to MacArthur for his 6th goal of the year, and Clarke returned the favor later in the first to build [...]

Gameday - Sabres at Lightning

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The Sabres’ first game back from the All-Star break is in Tampa against the Lightning.  Max and Tim are still on the mend, although Afinogenov is ‘days away’ while Connolly will need a few more practices before Lindy will bring him back.  Connolly also has a bone spur in his hip that will require off-season [...]

Gameday - Thrashers at Sabres

Friday, January 18th, 2008

The Atlanta Thrashers come to Buffalo tonight for a 7:30pm game at the Arena.  The Sabres are ‘winless’ in 10 straight, and may get Derek Roy back in the lineup.  However, I have yet to hear for sure if Clarke MacArthur is playing.  Sabres.com pointed out that Atlanta is the only team during the slide [...]

Freezing at Peewee Hockey

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

No, wait, that was the Sabres game last night.  Ugh.  When streaks get this long, you have to start wondering if the team even CAN win anymore.  Oh, and thank you, Shanny, for the cross-check to MacArthur’s head.  Add some injury to insult why don’t you.

Soup to Nuts: Campbell Calls Off Negotiations

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

You can guarantee every Sabres blogger is going to bust out the soup puns. I apologize in advance.

Brian Campbell told the media that he will not be negotiating a contract extension for the rest of this season.
