*thus ends sarcasm*
So yeah, that’s what the new downloadable cover of Madden 09 looks like for those who care about the athlete being the right jersey on the cover of your games. But, EA Sports, where’s my new DVD label? WHAT ABOUT THAT??? Seriously, Happy Madden Day everybody. Enjoy the rash of call-offs tomorrow.

And Boom Goes The Favre-onite
Jul 13, 2008 NFL
The Packers responded to Favre, and it’s not what he wanted to hear. They currently have no plans to release him, and it is not guaranteed that if he un-retires (and gets returned to their active roster) that he would actually be the starting quarterback.
Thompson reaffirmed to ESPN that the Packers won’t release Favre. He would not discuss trading the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Thompson said he had not received any inquiries from other teams as of Saturday morning.
I’d wager they’ll get a few, though.
“Quite frankly, it’s a little gut-wrenching as an organization to go through it, and certainly for Mike and myself,” Thompson said. “This stuff hurts a lot of people. I mean, it hurts. I’m not talking about physically hurting, but the sensitivity. We understand where the fans are coming from. This is a hot-button issue that surpasses anything I’ve ever gone through.”
I can see having second thoughts, I can imagine, at least, the pull of the game you’ve played for your whole life…but this is still a complete me-first jerk move. Just say you want to come back and leave it at that. YOU forced the team to move on, with your tearful good-bye…and they did. There’s no leverage that you have except whining to the media. The thing that bugs me the most is the asking for an unconditional release. It’s not in the team’s best interests, and I’m glad they have no plans of granting it. There’s about two weeks before training camp, so we’ll have some idea of where this is going by then.
Not Him AGAIN

Favre is about to pull a Jordan and un-retire, thus rendering ESPN unwatchable for the next month. Had to laugh at this tidbit from tWWL:
75-1 Buffalo Bills: The Bills appear committed to the young Trent Edwards. Favre would be an upgrade at this point, sure. But the Bills are not close to being a Super Bowl contender, and developing Edwards should be the priority.
Yes, they went through and figured out the odds on Favre joining every team. UGH. Please end this now.

They Said It - Romo Edition
Nov 30, 2007 NFL, They Said It
“Exchanging recipes and stuff,” Romo said. “Guy talk. I don’t know. We just talked about hunting or something. I told him NFL Network was going to have a heart attack if I didn’t come over and say hi. They were running out of film waiting for it.”
Tony Romo on talking to Brett Favre before last night’s game.
