Woohoo! Babylon 5 - The Lost Tales is out today! It’s already #6 on the DVD sales chart at Amazon, which has the best price I’ve found so far. I must have it!!
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Jul 16, 2007 Media
I should probably subtitle this “I’m what’s wrong with American filmgoers” but I loved this movie. The characters progressed from where they were in the first film, with the Human Torch surprising the heck out of me at the end. I did not think Sue was over the top as far as her bridal freakouts as anyone that has watched the ‘Bridezilla’ type shows can attest. ;) I did think the blonde hair/blue eyes for her was nutty. They want her to look like Johnny’s sister, I understand that, but way too far in that direction, guys.
I’m going to reserve my judgement on this until the DVD release, but my hunch is they cut some things out in regards to Sue and Reed. She gets (rightfully) pissed when Reed implies that he’s been working ‘alone’ on the anti-Surfer project when Doom wanders off, but never says anything else about it. Men, when was the last time your wives or girlfriends let something THAT serious slip by?

Battlestar Galactica Will End After Season 4
Jun 4, 2007 Media
Ronald Moore confirmed that the end is in sight for the ragtag fugitive fleet, and it is after season 4.
We thought, if we don’t start paying this off and really revealing those secrets, we’ll be moving in the wrong direction and get to a place where it felt like we were jerking off the audience
Honestly, I think it is a great move. I agree that if you had them wandering for years it would get stale. No need for a lot of filler episodes or one-shots.
Moore and Eick were vague on their plans for the series’ final episodes, but Moore did say that viewers will “get to see Earth” by the end of the show.
As long as they are not arriving in 1980 with invisible flying motorcycles, I’m cool with it.

MPAA Arms Malaysian Theaters with DVD Sniffing Dogs, Night-Vision Goggles
May 25, 2007 Media
No, that’s not a joke. It really happened, just in time for Spiderman 3 and POTC3.
After showing people to their seats, trained ushers are strapping on the goggles and scanning darkened cinemas around the country to spot anyone trying to make illegal copies of movies with hand-held video recorders or mobile phones.
The Motion Picture Association, which is training Malaysian ushers to catch the pirates, said cinemas had caught 17 people in the past two months, during which Hollywood studios released blockbusters like “Spider-Man 3″ and “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
“All of the cases were spotted with night-vision goggles,” the association’s Malaysia manager, Nor Hayati Yahaya, said on Friday. “Its very successful.”
Just, wow. It gets better:
The association, which represents the big Hollywood studios, recently brought to Malaysia two dogs trained to sniff out DVDs — with stunning results. The two Labradors, Lucky and Flo, have sniffed out more than a million DVDs and broken a fake DVD ring.
They have been so successful that authorities believe Malaysian pirates have put a bounty on the dogs’ heads.
Hmm. Not exactly hunting down drug dealers or finding people trapped in wreckage.
