This is NOT right

I missed free Slurpee day.  Those punks know I’m there all the time, couldn’t they have mentioned it at least?  NOT COOL, 7-11.

Attention S & R Greenleaf Landscaping

Hi, guys.  You don’t know me, but I know you.  Specifically, ‘Rob’.  Rob left a positively joyous message on my phone, apparently mistaking me for someone who owes his company (the aforementioned S & R Greenleaf Landscaping) money.  Trust me, pal, if my yard looked like it does now, and I owed you $240, I’d be the mad one.  I don’t actually do any business with you, and it’s a good thing, as I can laugh off your voicemail calling me a ‘fucking douchebag’.  I understand you may be upset that your customer has been paying you a dollar and change each month, but I don’t think the f-bomb is going to make him more likely to pay larger amounts.  So, dumbass, the next time you are out insulting your customer base with your buddies at the bar and decide to start drunk-dialing them, make sure you dial the right number.  The only reason I’m not calling you back to chew you out is because you didn’t leave a call back number, exhorting me to ‘look us up’.  Well, seeing that you don’t have a website beyond your Superpages listing, guess what future potential customers who search the web for you will find?

Sprint Steps Up (after a bit of coercion)

So, my wife was paying our Sprint bill the other day for our cellphones, but on the page to submit the payment, got an error.  Unbeknownst to her, it went ahead and processed the payment with the account info that was on the page, but we had wanted to change the account it pulled from first.  The end result was 2 charges, one to a near empty account, and one to the right one.  She called their ‘customer support’ immediately in hopes they could reverse or block that additional charge.  No dice.  Basically gave us the ol’ eff you, thanks for the credit which we will hold onto until your next bill.  Jen escalated it up the chain, speaking with someone on the financial department who reiterated all that, with the added bonus of being exceedingly rude.

Frequent readers here know I check out some of Gawker Media’s blogs (mostly Gizmodo and Lifehacker).  I encountered (and blogged about) the Consumerist’s guide to fighting back against Corporate America.  I knew Sprint had info in their list of executives, so I mailed a few of them (the ones with titles most likely to help in a situation like this) on Monday.  Today, the payment is not only returned to us, but sent straight back into the bank account!  Which the phone monkeys had claimed was not possible for them to do.  GG Sprint for taking your medicine and keeping a customer, I didn’t want to have to cancel with them as their service in this area has been light-years better than some of the other companies we’ve tried.  And thanks to the Consumerist.

Consumerist Shows You How To FIGHT Corporate America!

The Consumerist has revised and updated their article on fighting back against Corporations that are screwing you over.  It’s really an aggregation of multiple helpful articles, from how to write an effective complaint letter, lists of corporate executive contact information for where to send to (and how to find the ones they don’t have), to how you can start an online campaign against the unscrupulous business.  Worth it if only for the list of contact information.
