Vanek - Great Picture

Friday, July 18th, 2008

I just love this picture.  Derek Roy looks genuinely pleased for TV.  Spacek looks suspicious - perhaps he’s trying to intimidate the refs, knowing how ridiculous some of the calls were last year.  Timmy was distracted by something shiny.  Spotted at Sabres.com.

Lines

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Now that things have settled a bit, I thought I’d look at the potential line combinations for this year.  Keep in mind I’m not 100% sure who can be sent to Roches…er…Portland to start the season.  Anyway, what the lines will most likely look like:
Hecht - Connolly - Pominville
Vanek - Roy - Afinogenov
Paille - Gaustad [...]

Connolly DONE

Friday, March 21st, 2008

I guess this question is answered.  Darcy Regier announced today that Tim Connolly will have season-ending surgery on his hip.  Tim is traveling to Vail, Colorado on Monday to have the surgery to remove the bone spur.  He ends the year with 7 goals and 40 points.  Get well, Tim.

Gameday - Leafs at Sabres

Friday, March 21st, 2008

The Toronto Maple Leafs take the bus trip down the QEW today to face the Sabres at HSBC Arena tonight at 7:30pm.  The Leafs will be without Mats Sundin, Carlo Colaiacovo and Nik Antropov, and the Sabre lineup should be the same as Timmah is probably going to sit.  Teppo is apparently practicing with his [...]

Gameday - Lightning at Sabres

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

The Sabres got no help in the playoff standings last night, as Philly and Washington won, but they can do themselves a world of good tonight by beating the visiting Lightning.  The lineup will stay the same as it was for the last game, as Timmy still can’t go.  A win tonight would also complete [...]

So, Timmy: Are we done?

Monday, March 17th, 2008

With news that the oft-injured but sometimes dazzling Tim Connolly may not even play after this little break, well, see the poll:
Personally, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tiring of the whole ‘is he playing or isn’t he??’ crap that we’ve had with him the past few weeks.  I think it had a [...]

Gameday - Sabres at Penguins (updated)

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

The Buffalo Sabres travel to the Igloo to face the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, and they do so without Andrew Peters.  Peters was suspended for one game for hitting Colton Orr while he was on the bench.  Peters was retaliating for a hit that Orr put on a Sabres player that put him into the bench [...]

Gameday - Rangers at Sabres

Monday, March 10th, 2008

[singlepic=15,160,120,,right]The Rangers are in town tonight, facing a Sabres team that is hurting, both physically and for points.  According to WGR, Paetsch practiced (leg laceration), but Bernier (groin), Tallinder (shoulder), and Connolly (lost his purse) all sat out and probably won’t play.  The Sabres are 4 points out of the playoffs right now and can [...]

Another Lackluster Sabres Weekend

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Two more weekend games, two more losses for the Buffalo Sabres.  Friday’s game was a 6-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens was particularly painful, with Plekanec scoring 3 power play goals.  Vanek continued his hot streak with his 27th goal of the season, and Connolly scored as well, both also on the PP.
The next game, [...]

Sabres Pounce on Predators 8-4

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Steve Bernier didn’t take long to make an impression on Buffalo Sabres fans, scoring the first two goals of the game and adding an assist as the Sabres pounded the Preds 8 to 4.
