Top 10 Sabres Goals from 07-08

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Sabres.com has the Top 10 Sabres goals from last year featured right now.  There are some fun ones, including MacArthur’s sick one-timer, a reminder of why we have kept Max for so long, and a game-winner from Andrej Sekera.  Just hearing Rick’s excitable calls makes me want to go to a game TOMORROW!

Lines

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Now that things have settled a bit, I thought I’d look at the potential line combinations for this year.  Keep in mind I’m not 100% sure who can be sent to Roches…er…Portland to start the season.  Anyway, what the lines will most likely look like:
Hecht - Connolly - Pominville
Vanek - Roy - Afinogenov
Paille - Gaustad [...]

NHL Draft Starts Tonight

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The first round of the NHL draft is tonight, with Steve Stamkos as the consensus first pick (with the Lightning as of now).  Buffalo has 2 picks in the first round (13th and 26th), and might be looking to move up.  Rumors swirl involving Maxim Afinogenov being gone, and other trades are not ruled out.  [...]

Max Factors In To The Playoff Picture

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

The Buffalo Sabres managed to survive in the playoff race one more day thanks to a timely shootout goal from Maxim Afinogenov, winning 4-3 in the skills comp.  It looked bleak after the first minute of the game though, as jerkwad Darcy Tucker scored to put the Leafs up 1-0.  Kaberle increased their lead to [...]

Barely Breathin’

Friday, March 28th, 2008

The Sabres kept their scant playoff hopes alive with a rare shootout win last night against the Ottawa Senators.  Jason Spezza opened the scoring unassisted, but Maxim Afinogenov matched him a minute later.  Jochen Hecht got his 22nd on the power play to finish the first period with a 2-1 lead.
Buffalo then assisted Mike Fisher [...]

Gameday - Canadiens at Sabres

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Montreal is in town tonight for a 7:30pm game at HSBC Arena.  The Sabres are coming off their first win of the post-Soupy era, with a huge contribution from Steve Bernier.  Bernier has fallen in love with Buffalo, and after that game, the feeling is mutual.  If he can keep the energy up like that [...]

Gameday - Predators at Sabres

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

The Nashville Predators are the first post-deadline opponent for the Buffalo Sabres tonight at the Arena.  The newest Sabre, Steve Bernier, will be in the lineup skating alongside Roy and Vanek.  I would very much love for this combo to click, as having an ass-kicker on the ice (hopefully while still being able to help [...]

Gameday - Lightning at Sabres

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

A buddy of mine who went to the practice today stated that Miller was working with the equipment guys on his pads, seeming to think that one of them was not moving quite right (and therefore leaving a gap) when he is kneeling. Also, Hecht was working with Ryan around the opposite net, practicing putting the puck top-shelf from that position.

Gameday - Sabres at Bruins

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

The Sabres are in Boston tonight for a game against the Bruins.  It’s the first of 14 games in 25 nights, but the majority will be at home.  Still, Max should be back tomorrow, Stafford and Spacek are good for tonight, and Miller dodged the injury bullet.  A win tonight would be big for the [...]

Gameday - Sabres at Lightning

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

The Sabres’ first game back from the All-Star break is in Tampa against the Lightning.  Max and Tim are still on the mend, although Afinogenov is ‘days away’ while Connolly will need a few more practices before Lindy will bring him back.  Connolly also has a bone spur in his hip that will require off-season [...]
