The town square of Kassen is unusually quiet as the four chosen to retrieve the flame gather.  High, wispy clouds and a strong wind blowing leaves over the rough stone under your boots are the first signs that summer is giving way to fall.  The noon bells from the temple will be ringing soon, to bring the town forth to begin the ritual.

Go ahead and talk among yourselves.

Crypt of the Everflame / People of Kassen
January 11, 2018, 10:44:24 AM
Jonark Uptal - The Mayor of Kassen for the past 11 years.  Known for his fairness in dealing with town disputes, he can be found most days in the Great Hall, when he's not out fishing.  Human.

Father Rantal Prasst - Father Prasst is a Cleric of Erastil, though the small stone temple in town has shrines to other deities.  He was once a soldier but does not enjoy speaking of it.  Human, about 24 years of age.

Olmira Treesong - Olmira is a rather strange middle-aged Human Druid, known for dressing only in natural materials (grass skirts, leaves and bark) and being followed by small, woodland creatures that she speaks with.  She has taken apprentices over time, who have had to do odd tasks such as listing to the wind for a week, or planting seeds in random places.

Arnama Lastric - The country of Nirmathas is known for its rangers, and it was rangers that raised the orphaned Arnama.  She is tough and quiet, but the town knows she has their back.  She will occasionally teach her woodland skills to others, but isn't exactly known for her patience.  Human.

Ilimara Oniri - A human Monk from Qadira, this exotic woman has lived on the outskirts of town for the past 8 years.  She claims to be in search of peace, but any who have tried to learn the secrets of Irori enlightenment from her believe there is a darkness held with her.

Gregor Wisslo - The human Guard Captain, the graying Wisslo is an effective if harsh disciplinarian of a Fighter.  The other guards that have learned from him secretly detest him, with disparaging nicknames which they NEVER employ within earshot.

Moltus Vargidan - The patriarch of the Vargidan family, who are all known to have sorcerous blood.  The aging man, with long white hair nearly to his knees, lives in a large house with nearly a dozen children.  His mind may be slipping.

Trelvar and Asina Silvers - Trelvar runs the only inn and tavern in Kassen, the Seven Silvers.  Asina is his daughter (13 years old).  Trelvar's wife died about a year ago, leaving him without a son to pass the inn on to.  Asina (who is a bit of a gossip) says she will take it over, but Trelvar knows she dreams of moving to the big city.

Jimes "Short Change" Iggins - Jimes, a Halfling rogue, is Trelvar's employee at the Seven Silvers.  Insists the nickname is because of his height and not the fact that he tends to keep the change a bit more than is warranted.  Besides this, he's actually a good friend, and the townsfolk overlook his light touch.

Holgast - The town's wizard, Holgast, lives in a tower that leans only slightly.  He is known to be forgetful and erratic as a teacher, allowing students the "privilege" of learning from him after they do all sorts of tasks.  Most of his students learn from reading Holgast's spellbooks while he naps.

Recruiting / [PF] Crypt of the Everflame
January 08, 2018, 08:30:27 AM
I am seeking approximately 4 1st level adventurers.  They will be journeying to the crypt of their hometown's founder, Ekat Kassen, and symbolically lighting a lantern from the eternal flame dedicated to the town's hero.  The townsfolk play it up as a solemn and dangerous task, much as it was many years ago when Kassen set forth to defeat the enemies that had been plaguing the town, but it's mostly for show.  The return of the flame begins the celebration of the end of the harvest season.

The important bits:

1.  Characters can be made from any first-party Paizo material (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ has most of it) but everyone is going to be from the town of Kassen, which is in Nirmathas.

2.  20 point buy, starting with the average gold for your level.  You will be getting a backpack with 5 days of rations, a waterskin, a tent and blankets, and other gear, so focus mostly on your own equipment.

3.  It's a 2 day trip to the crypt, so as you can guess from having a tent and blankets, you will be sleeping outside at least once there and back.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

The town of Bellis is buzzing with excitement at the wedding, happening just a short time from now.  At the Chapel of Shelyn, Viviana Albercroft paces while practicing her lines and gestures for the ceremony.  She greeted Burham warmly enough when he arrived to keep an eye on things, but is soon back to her rehearsing.

The food tent is a busy place, with ribs and fish leaving as quickly as they get cooked.  Many townsfolk made a picnic of it, laying out blankets while they await the festivities.  "Big Al" seems quite at home here, nudging Revas Benwold after a particularly vulgar joke (priests of Cayden Cailean know how to party).  A few of the bridesmaids have already arrived to fuss over their boxed desserts for the Box Social, including Lumi Reasonknot, a young Gnomish woman known for her honeyed pumpkin bread.

Elyin and Kailah are greeting guests in the Gazebo area, and when not shaking the hands of an out of town guest or meeting his a relative of his soon-to-be wife, Elyin catches up with his Foresthawk friends (Dorin, Galadon, Izora, all human rangers).

The rose garden is a popular spot for some of the young couples sneaking away for some alone time.

Hello all, I'm going to run "Realm of the Fellnight Queen", and am looking for 4 to 6 players starting at 7th level.  You can pretty much use anything you can find that is Paizo material at the Pathfinder SRD though guns are rare.  The story begins in the town of Bellis on the border of the nation of Andoran for the happy event of a wedding!  Elyin Ursage is marrying Kailah Winmede and the whole town is invited.  Your hook to the adventure should revolve around them - either you know the groom (Elyin is a half-elf Ranger, part of a group called the Foresthawks), the bride (Kailah is the daughter of the town's apothecary), or you could be there in another official capacity (delivery presents from out of town family and friends, what have you).  You can even be related if that works better for you.

Not to spoil anything else, the adventure is quite nature-themed, involves gnomes, drunk treants and one scary sorceress.  Also, bees (Bellis is known for honey and mead).

Archived Threads / [PF] Hey, maybe a Pathfinder game?
January 22, 2015, 03:06:12 PM
Any interest in starting a Pathfinder game here again?  I'd be game for restarting one of the existing games with whoever wants to come back, or running an individual module if there is someone who wants less of a time commitment.  I miss PbP gaming, and I'd like to ease back in.

Serpent's Skull / The Other Castaways
May 29, 2013, 08:25:06 AM
Aerys Mavato - A trim half-elf woman in leather armor, with short dark hair and a tricorner hat.  She got into a scuffle with a sailor who made lewd advances toward her, and beat the stuffing out of him with her bare hands.  She kept to herself after that, usually smelling of alcohol when she did come out of her cabin.

Gelik Aberwhinge - A blond-haired gnome bard who boarded the Jenivere in Magnimar.  Word is he had to get out of town for passing fake Thassilonian relics but he vehemently denied that.  Dresses like a noble, and seems to delight in verbal barbs against others.

Ishirou - You know little about this Tian man, other than he boarded the ship in Bloodcove.  He says little and smiles even less.  Despite his scruffy, graying appearance, he carries a beautiful katana.

Jask Derindi - The prisoner.  His clothes are little more than rags at this point, and his hands are still held in a set of manacles.

Sasha Nevah - A young woman with messy red hair and green eyes, Sasha is excitable to the point of being manic, though it DID make her entertaining to be around.  She has a tattoo of a red mantis on her back, and she's missing a pinky finger.

The sun has barely crested the horizon, and already the caravan yard is bustling.  Sandru and the other drivers are checking and re-checking the ropes holding down the cargo and provisions, as well as checking on the horses.  Satisfied, he helps Koya with her gear and makes sure she's settled comfortably in the Fortune Teller's wagon.

Ameiko give some last minute instructions to the staff at the Rusty Dragon, wearing her leather armor instead of her normal garb.  Strapped to her belt is a rapier and several daggers, and she has her samisen as well.  Sandru arrives at the door just as one of the cooks presses a package into Ameiko's hands.  The caravanmaster watches for a moment, then says, "It's time."  Ameiko nods, says her goodbyes, and strides out the door.

...

Just before setting out, Sandru takes the scouts aside and gives them a rundown of what he expects.  "While travelling, I expect you to be scanning the horizon for signs of ambush or other road troubles - washed out bridges, fallen trees, that sort of thing.  Faraway, if your Roc can keep an eye out from above, that will be a huge help.  When we are stopped, one of you will continue ahead for a ways - I'll make sure there's plenty of food left when you get back, don't worry.  I don't expect much trouble for the first several days, as the Lost Coast road is well-traveled here, but once we are closer to Brinewall, all bets are off."

Once everyone is ready, Sandru urges the horses attached to his wagon forward, and the rest follow out of habit.  The trip has begun.  At first, there's some traffic to dodge here and there on the road - and Sandru seems to know everyone, greeting them by name.  But by midday, you are alone, and the true monotony of caravan travel becomes apparent to you.  As if on cue, Sandru, Bevelek and Vankor begin telling stories to whoever is close enough to hear.  Adventure stories, mostly, and often exagerated to hilarious extreme.  Ameiko takes to this immediately, playing backing music to enhance the drama when appropriate.

Spoiler: ShowHide
No encounter roll today, but I will do one for future days coming up - just need you guys to firm up what you are spending the caravan improvement money on, any hires you may be making, and roles for Jeddy and Horcrust.  Also, Ameiko loves exciting stories, so anyone wishing to get in her good graces can try and come up with one during the trip.
