Splinter Cell - Conviction

I'm the worst Sam Fisher in history.  uPlay is stupid, especially when I'm already starting the game from Steam.  My shooter aim needs a ton of practice.

My brother played that game for xBox 360 and really enjoyed it.  I haven't played any of the Splinter Cell games since the PS2 days.  I wonder if you'd have better luck if you played with a controller running through your computer?  If you aren't already.

I've always been a keyboard and mouse shooter guy, the only one I could play like that was Goldeneye...and when I try now, I feel like my hands are useless clubs, hitting all the wrong stuff. :D

I have almost no experience with keyboard-mouse shooters, so my experience would probably be similar were our positions switched.   ;D

TheTick

Yup. :D  Game is running like shit on my machine, which is odd.  I can run Skyrim at a higher res, but Conviction chugs.

That is odd.  I'd imagine the graphics specs wouldn't be terribly different for those games.

TheTick

Unfortunately (late to the party on the reply here) I think it's probably just that the game isn't optimized for Windows, more time being spent on the console versions.  It happens, nowadays.

Ah, that is very true.  That seems to be very much the case with shooters these days too.

Played more last night.  I was surprisingly competent.  The mission to take out the guys tailing Victor Coste was great, casually following them, without being seen, and then striking at them (no gun) from the shadows without being noticed...fun!  And then right after that it rolls into a full on run and jump chase scene like the open of Casino Royale.  It culminated with you holed up inside a cafe as several waves of agents try to find you, before bursting out the window and sprinting for a waiting car.

I like more action-oriented stealth moments like that in games.  That was a big part of the reason I loved Assassin's Creed II so much.
