Vintage Gaming – X-Com Series
The Summer Steam Sale has only gotten me for one thing so far, and it’s the X-Com series of games. I’ve never played them, and I figured it’s time. I’ll be updating this post with thoughts on each of the games as time permits. Feel free to comment with your memories or strategies as you like.
X-Com: UFO Defense – I have no idea what I’m doing – I need to find and read the manual! It’s kind of funny that it runs via DOSBox.

Man, I was thinking about how brutally challenging that game is to get into. The interface is rough, but the underlying game is truly incredible. A few tips – Make sure your troops are nearly always in cover, and research lasers asap. You finally forced me to post the XCom post I wrote ages ago that I had the intention of getting screenshots to throw in.
If you need help tracking down a manual, I should have a PDF somewhere.
I might have it – I haven’t investigated what the Steam install included fully. Hope to have some time tonight.
