When last we spoke, it looked like the MechWarrior license, back in the hands of those that knew it best, would be making a big comeback. Well, those plans got sidelined thanks in part to Microsoft (shocking, I know). But fear not, the game has been reworked into a free to play MMO that looks pretty sweet. I’m still interested, and I have high hopes that we might finally get a worthy successor to the MW2 generation of games. Not that MW3 and after were bad, just…blah.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL. There’s another game in development, and you pen and paper gaming geeks might want to take note. MechWarrior Tactics is a turn-based strategy game based on the same license, and while there’s not a ton known so far, it’s enough to get me excited. I mean, look at how cool that screenshot is. So take heart, if you had lost hope of MW5/Reboot/whatever after hearing nothing from the trailer in 2009, we can see now that work is happening, and what we see is awesome.
