The pre-season is done, and it’s time to look ahead at the Buffalo Sabres 2009-2010 season. The ever-truculent Toronto Maple Leafs are in town tonight for the second and final Sabres home pre-season game. Buffalo has sent most of their youngsters back to their Junior teams, or to the Pirates, so the only bubble players still around are Tyler Myers, Tim Kennedy and Nathan Gerbe. The Bills rebounded from the painful week one loss to beat the Bucs 33-20, and the Sabres are 2-0-1 in the preseason. It’s a good feeling, having competent teams. Stupid people abound, especially thieves, but let’s stop equating the burglary of Whitner’s place with the vandalism of McKelvin’s. $400,000 of jewelry though, I guess we [...] NHL
Buffalo has their second pre-season game tonight as they visit the Detroit Red Wings. Ryan Miller will play tonight, after Enroth and Lalime had the crease duties in the first game. I haven’t yet seen who else will/won’t play in this game, but there will probably be a few other changes. Still radio only as [...] NHL
…but I don’t care because it was HOCKEY. Even radio only, to hear Doug Allen deliver the anthems, Rick and Harry with the call, all is right with the sporting world. It’s fascinating, really, that it seems like only the Bills can lose so many games like this and have nothing serious happen to the coach. Drew Stafford signed a 2-year deal with the Sabres, worth 3.8 million dollars according to John Vogl over at the News.
