The pre-season is done, and it’s time to look ahead at the Buffalo Sabres 2009-2010 season. While many of the key faces are the same (Vanek, Roy, Pominville, Miller, Gaustad, Rivet, and so on) the rest of the changes were all made with getting tougher in mind. Out went guys like Maxim Afinogenov [...] NFL
Well, my interest in the local teams, that is. After a debacle like that, I don’t want to read any commentary, watch highlights, hear T.O. post-game comments (although I did this morning, good job trying to bait him, jerkface MSM’er), nothing. I have no idea how that happens…a while back, Nick Mendola (via [...] NHL
The ever-truculent Toronto Maple Leafs are in town tonight for the second and final Sabres home pre-season game. Buffalo has sent most of their youngsters back to their Junior teams, or to the Pirates, so the only bubble players still around are Tyler Myers, Tim Kennedy and Nathan Gerbe. I would think at [...] NFL
The Bills rebounded from the painful week one loss to beat the Bucs 33-20, and the Sabres are 2-0-1 in the preseason. It’s a good feeling, having competent teams. NHL
Buffalo has their second pre-season game tonight as they visit the Detroit Red Wings. Ryan Miller will play tonight, after Enroth and Lalime had the crease duties in the first game. I haven’t yet seen who else will/won’t play in this game, but there will probably be a few other changes. Still [...] NHL
…but I don’t care because it was HOCKEY. Even radio only, to hear Doug Allen deliver the anthems, Rick and Harry with the call, all is right with the sporting world. Pominville, MacArthur and Kennedy had the goals for Buffalo, with Lalime and Enroth splitting duties in the net. I was only [...] Media
First Sabres preseason game tomorrow night…are you ready? NFL
It’s fascinating, really, that it seems like only the Bills can lose so many games like this and have nothing serious happen to the coach. But honestly, it’s not all doom and gloom here, at least it shouldn’t be. There were good signs all over the place, but they get overlooked thanks to [...] NHL
Drew Stafford signed a 2-year deal with the Sabres, worth 3.8 million dollars according to John Vogl over at the News. Chris over at The Goose’s Roost has some more analysis, but I like the term here. He’s being paid commensurate with his production, and the Sabres are not trapped under a long-term [...] Media
