Allan Muir of SI.com has one ‘pressing question’ about the Sabres: Can Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy build on their sensational second-half form?

Despite playing with a cast of thousands on their wing, Buffalo’s top duo was dynamic after the All-Star break. Roy had 14 goals and 44 points in that 34-game span, a pace that works out to 106 points over a full season. Vanek, who clearly labored under the weight of his massive contract in the early going, finished strong with 23 goals.

For Vanek, he notes that would be a 55 goal pace for an entire season. Roy would’ve had 106 points at his pace, also. I can definitely see Vanek getting back above 40-45 goals since he seems to have gotten over the pressure of his contract. Can’t wait to find out! Come on hockey season!
