Daniel Alfredsson Blindsided by Mark Bell
Apr 4, 2008 NHL
The Ottawa Senators kept pace in their playoff race last night with an 8-2 drubbing of the Maple Leafs, but their chances at winning may have taken a huge (and dirty?) hit. Captain Daniel Alfredsson was hit in the head by Mark Bell is a play very similar to the one made by Neil on Drury (though not quite as late). Alfie crumpled to the ice and tried to crawl off, and took only one more shift. Coach Bryan Murray’s comments were a stark contrast to the ones he made when the shoe was on the other foot last season. They lost Mike Fisher too, it’s really starting to look ugly for the Sens.

No Playoffs for the Sabres
Apr 4, 2008 NHL
Buffalo was beaten 3-1 by the Montreal Canadiens last night, thus ending all hopes of sneaking in to the playoffs. The Sabres (as has happened numerous times this year) did not play a complete 60 minute game and it cost them. Ales Kotalik scored the only Sabre goal on the power play with 8 minutes left in the game. Miller was on the bench also for that, a gamble that paid off but they couldn’t get anything before or after. Habs goalie Carey Price was excellent, it really looks like they picked the right guy to put their hopes in.
Buffalo has one more game left to close out the season, facing off against the Boston Bruins. Wonder if we’ll see Thibault or Numminen for that one.
