Sabres Beat Tampa in OT; Spacek Due Back @ Bruins Thursday
Oct 30, 2007 NHL
The Sabres rallied back from 2-0 and 3-2, the latter with 7 minutes to go, to win 4-3 in overtime against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Nathan Paetsch tied it up with his first goal of the season, and Thomas Vanek broke out 2 on 1 with Nathan (very close to being offside) with less than a minute to go in OT. A potential winner for the Lightning was called back after it was ruled that they had interfered with Miller (although no penalty was called?).
“The goal should be disallowed, there’s no question,” Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella said. “The goalie was not able to do his job with Marty being there. It’s the right call.”
As they skated in on the break, Vanek banked the puck into the net off the defenseman trying to pass to Paetsch for the winner. Signs of life from TV, Max and Paetsch, which is awesome. Miller played a solid game, as well. It was the first home loss for the Lightning who had been 5-0 IIRC.
The Sabres are off until Thursday when they go to Boston to take on the Bruins. Spacek should be back in the lineup for that one.
