Bills Win First Preseason Game
Aug 10, 2007 NFL
Just finished watching the first Bills preseason game of the year. They beat the Saints 13-10. The offensive starters didn’t play long (Marshawn Lynch had 2 carries) but what you saw was promising. Special teams will probably be the best unit (again) with a blocked field goal and a total -2 yards allowed to the Saints punt returners. Fred Jackson and Dwayne Wright both showed that Shaud Williams is expendable, and really why not Anthony Thomas too. Sam Aiken and Roscoe Parrish may be able to push for more first-team time at wide receiver.
For the defense, Jabari Greer showed one hell of a lot more than Jason Webster for the second CB spot, coming down with 2 interceptions. The troubled Anthony Hargrove was sharp also. The big story though is former Penn State LB Paul Posluszny. Once he made it into the game he was EVERYWHERE. 9 tackles and one huge sack where he blazed up the middle on a delayed blitz. He needs to be starting NOW.
Oh, and the kickers, can’t forget them. Lindell nailed a 54 yarder with 5 yards to spare. Moorman pinned the Saints back inside the 5 twice that I remember. All in all, a very entertaining game.

There’s Football and Then There’s FOOTBALL
While watching the Colts/Cowboys game, I flopped over to the Deuce to watch David Beckham…bounce back and forth up and down the Galaxy sideline warming up for much of the game. He did make it in though, and looked solid on the rain-soaked field.
By the way, I just noticed this tidbit from last night on TO:
“The ball was distributed well,” said Owens, wearing a Barry Bonds jersey. “We’ll practice hard and get better. This was a great start for us.”
I’m not surprised.

Scott Fujita and Embarrassing Injuries
Aug 10, 2007 NFL
Scott Fujita is on crutches and will likely miss tonight’s game, after having ‘a little accident’ at an area water park. Coach Sean Payton loaded his team onto buses and took them to Rapids on the Reservoir. Fujita returned on crutches with his foot wrapped. The team has not been forthcoming about how exactly he got hurt, only stating that nothing is broken. Our local sports talk is having fun with it, as they have made fun of the Bills in the past for going to see a movie during training camp. That wasn’t the current coaching staff, though.
